And this is Lex, our 13 year old golden retriever who loves being a flower farm dog, and especially loves taking rides in the Kawaski Mule!

We sort of stumbled into becoming flower farmers!

My husband and #1 farm hand generously built me a raised flower bed several years ago so I could have a cutting garden. I went to a big box store and bought a bunch of potted flowers that looked pretty on the tag, planted them in my new flower bed, waited for them to mature . . . and when they bloomed, it was quite clear that none of them were “cutting flower” types because none were more than 8” tall!! Ugh! Later that year in the gift shop at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens (one of Richmond’s gems), I found a small, paperback book that walked us step-by-step through how to plant a real cutting garden, and it worked! I was hooked and a flower farmer was born.

We bought the land that is now our home and flower farm and spent the next several years clearing the trees and building the health of our soil. During that time, I spent countless hours taking flower farming courses, reading books, watching farming videos, listening to podcasts, learning about what makes our soil healthy, meeting other flower farmers, and growing flowers. And now we get to share our flowers with you!

We look forward to meeting our soon-to-be-flower-friends like you!
